Pros

Some people are very talented, but most of them are treated like junk! Decent amount of work life balance

Cons

- Senior management has limited management capabilities - Egotistical personalities and the belief that they are superior - Lack of innovation but think they are the best - Sense of false pride for mediocre work output - No career advancement, no opportunities for growth - Way below market compensation - Senior Management does not care at all

Pros

Decent health benefits with company-paid plan option, snacks/beer/wine, relatively tight-knit group

Cons

Unfortunately, it seems like this company is headed for a downward spiral. We've had a number of layoffs the past few years, and more recently, two sets of layoffs in the last 6 months. We've also had a number of really high-quality people leave on their own, and no one has been replaced. Myself and quite a few other coworkers I know of are actively looking for other opportunities. The leadership here doesn't seem to know what to do, or even want to try to fix anything, despite their employees being pretty transparent with them. There is way too much leadership currently, as no managerial or C-level people have been a part of the layoffs, and work has been slow for a long time. The contracts we're signing are small and incredibly limiting, so many of us are being underutilized, and the work is simply unenjoyable with no budgetary room to flex our knowledge and expertise. I think the phrase "too many cooks" would accurately describe the group of leaders, C-level and VP. They spend so much time being introspective and trying to fix things internally (like the forced culture and a broken process), they've overlooked the most important aspect of the company... our clients and our work. If there was good, plentiful work, the employees would be more engaged and inspired, and a happy culture would happen organically. It seems like they're all quite emotionally overwhelmed and being in a room with 2 or more of them is regularly awkward and tense.

Thanks for the feedback. Like you said “This is one of the most talented teams I’ve ever seen, with brilliant and loyal people.” We completely agree. The team here is amazing, we absolutely think the world of them, and want them to feel great about Modus and their careers here. (And enjoy the snacks/beer/wine!) That’s why we’re doing a number of things to address the issues you mentioned. But before we share some of those, it’s important to say that the business outlook is actually really strong. Our best year of revenue ever was 2017. With 2018 about halfway through, we’re profitable, have some great clients, and very promising prospects. Yes, we have had to let some great people go -- but that’s a tough reality that is part of any client services business. When a client moves on, sometimes we need to reduce staff. Fortunately, we’re in another growth mode and will be once again building back our teams. More importantly, we’re working hard to improve how we operate and how we communicate with the staff. The leadership team has better defined their roles to reduce the number of cooks in the kitchen, and each member is working hard to foster a culture of autonomy where teams feel empowered and valued. And the partners are also more aligned than ever on the direction of the company, and trying hard to communicate a singular vision to their teams.

Pros

They used to pay your salary in US dollars but then they manipulate the exchange rate to lower salaries.

Cons

Free falling... losing clients, employees. Worst development team ever. Management is unprofessional, pretentious and way outdated. They hire talented people to tell them what to do (and they made awful decisions). The sort of HR management both in US and BA are manipulative and disrespectful. A small club of wealthy people that believe in they opinions as sacred truth. Stay away of this place.
