Pros

Free food and 1 hour breaks. Salary potential was high until they lost government contract

Cons

Company will work you to death and doesn't appreciate anything that you do. Owners will yell at employees for hours. Cameras are every where spying on employees. Fired 50+ people in one day. Huge amount of turn over. Even if you are a loyal employee for years one day they will find something to yell at you about and then fire you without giving you a chance to rectify the situation. Micro manage every aspect of the company. Even if you go above and beyond they arent considering raises or bonuses and will not work with the employees to figure something out at all. Company is losing contacts one by one and is in a downward spiral.

Thanks for your comments. We’re very sorry that you don’t feel like your contribution was valued. We do care very much about all our employees and we’re sorry that it seems like you feel your perspective was misunderstood. For many years, we were able to consider both raises and bonuses. For our many employees who do go above and beyond, we do take care of them in whatever ways we can, financially when possible and other ways as well. While contracts come and go, we feel that we are in a very good position moving forward and have very strong growth opportunities in the near, medium and long term. We have solid government contracts and very strong potential in new markets. Our core team is still very strong and continues to provide our existing customers with the same, high level of service that PEC has been known for in our 31 year history.

Pros

Free dinner and lunch Off street parking Decent starting salary for a first time office job Friendly coworkers who will help when needed Okay hours

Cons

Progressive Expert Consulting has a very poor CEO and management department. Their main priority and focus is to keep the "Helpdesk support" room full. They will hire anyone with or without a degree and stick them in that room. In most cases the hard working employees in that room end up leaving or being let go after they grow bored and restless in that room and need/ want more responsibility within the company but are never granted it. The company rather than promote internally like a normal company will look for higher paid potential employees online who may posses a degree but do not know how the main operation in the company works. This is when the lowest people in the bracket will end up training these other employees for a few weeks and they will then go off and make double what Helpdesk support makes but will not know nearly enough to do their job title. The company is constantly hiring and firing numerous employees at once and will have a very public and sometimes humiliating display of firing employees often times in front of their peers. Avoid this company.

Thanks for your comments, they are very well thought out. We do appreciate your service to our company. Our Helpdesk Support Staff personnel are some of the most important people in our company. It is an entry level position and is one of the ways to be a part of our company. We recognize that people may want or need additional responsibility but we have to balance that with their ability to handle that additional responsibility. We recognize that each person’s perception of their ability may not be the same as our perception of their ability. In those cases, we try to welcome an open dialog to try to come to a common understanding. In the past, we have had some supervisors who have not done this particularly well. We also, at a management level, recognize that we can improve our communication. Since the time you left your review, we have made some structural changes to the oversight in our Helpdesk Support Staff as well as intentional and substantive changes in the way that we communicate company-wide. It’s our hope that these changes will help current and future employees have a better understanding of what is going on around the company.

Pros

Yes, there is free food. However, this was frequently referred to as colon cleansing. They give you the menu daily, and you just let them know when you're eating. If you're mid shift however, good luck. Bring lunch.

Cons

This place is great at making things sound much better than they really are. You will have your interview with one of the owners, and they will tell you that there is much advancement available in this company in the field you want. However, when it comes time to hire someone for that position, they will hire someone from outside, and will not even mention it to the people that work there. They will hire you on as part time, and give you full time hours without any of the benefits of a full time worker. You will sit in a room with at least 5 cameras in it (that change position!) And 2 long desks for about 30 people. You have 3 monitors (and a laptop) in front of you. You use these to watch at least 3 classes. You use VMs to get into multiple classes at once, in which you will sit there and stare at people on their webcams, speaking in at least 2 different languages (the classes you watch are language learning), until they need you. They make it seem like you're tech support, but you are just a glorified babysitter. The people in classes frequently refer to you as big brother. You're at the mercy of the classes, as most don't end on time. Some go over by half an hour, cutting into your break or leaving time. You're in a chat constantly with "supervisors" that are supposed to answer any pressing questions, as well as cover your breaks since you're not allowed to walk away. Good luck getting an answer! Management basically doesn't exist. You know they're there, they're watching, but you never see them, nor are supported by them. The only time you see them is when the higher ups for the companies you are supporting are there. They don't give out raises either. Its dependent on how well the company is doing, and each time the opportunity came, we were denied. The location is in a very unsafe place - they frequently have to use their security cameras to give footage to the police for crimes. I.e., someone getting run over, shot, or property stolen.

Thanks for your review. I’m sorry that you didn’t feel like you had a good experience at PEC. Our work, providing language and culture training to active duty military members, is something that we take very seriously. Every job and every task is different. Some may be more routine that others but that does not minimize their importance. The job you describe is one of the most critical jobs that we do. If we do not do that job to the best of our ability, then the men and women in uniform will have their training environment compromised. Having been in the military myself, I consider it a privilege and an honor to support the men and women who defend our country. There are many in the company who have started out doing that exact same job and who have moved on to other areas of more responsibility in the company. For those who have earned it, we have given them the chance to demonstrate their ability to perform in other parts of the company. Our goal is to maintain the high standards and good reputation that we have established with our military customer. We welcome feedback and will always try to balance that with the operational reality that exists when trying to sustain a business. We’re sorry that you felt this way and would be happy to talk with you further if you’d like.
