Pros

The area around the site is nice. That's about it

Cons

The most toxic place I have ever worked. Training does not take place when you start, apart from a brief induction, but you are not offered help by more senior members of the team with even basic processes. Staff are micromanaged to the point where account executives and senior account executives are not allowed to send a single email outside the building without it being checked by an account manager or higher. Mistakes are dissected in a way designed to break you down and leave you like that without teaching you how to fix them. People in the office are afraid to speak in anything louder than a whisper, despite this being a “communications” company. Lower staff are not allowed to talk to senior directors or higher. An example of this was when it was just me and one of the senior managers were left in the office (it was around 6 pm), and I had a question regarding the legal terminology of a contract which I had to draft with no help. I asked the senior manager the question and was done in under 30 seconds. This was brought up no less than four times, including in a meeting about how my probation period was going (I had only been there a few weeks) and how I should never disturb this person, no matter what. If you are liked by the higher ups, you’ll be fine. If you are not, then don’t get comfy!

Thank you for your review – we value your feedback. You raise many points that are concerning. Please be assured that we have taken your advice to management seriously. Our current culture, I am pleased to say, does not reflect your review. We have a thorough onboarding, induction and learning and development programme to help all new employees learn the ropes of the industry and agency life. This includes our bespoke grad induction programme, where grads have dedicated time for learning, away from client work. Feedback from our graduates is that this programme is extensive and incredibly valuable. We also have learning sessions for individuals at all levels, with a strong emphasis on supporting people throughout their career. In addition, we have recently launched a Mentoring and Senior Coaching Programme, which is proving popular and successful across the agency. To your final point of respect – we expect everyone in our business to be professional, respectful and considerate, regardless of their position or role. We have diversity, equality and inclusion ambassadors across our agency, who are helping us to continue to foster an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

Pros

Nothing special worth mentioning ... the only benefit I can think of is free fruits, which almost everywhere offers...

Cons

Senior management treated junior members of the team awfully. There was a toxic hierarchal culture and senior members of staff abused their positions of power while upper management turned a blind eye.

Pros

Struggle to think of any!

Cons

- Micromanagement: very few opportunities to take any ownership of projects with the most senior account handler taking charge & it’s their way or no way - Long hours: there’s an expectation to work very long hours & when concern raised with manager, nothing is done (and is even encouraged) - Poor communication: lack of communication across the team & with line managers. Several attempts were made to raise concerns & ended up being patronised/ belittled, completely invalidating my opinions - ‘Nasty’ behaviour: there was a real feeling of falseness / “cliquey”/ lack of concern for employee wellbeing, despite the long & hard working hours - several colleagues felt as if there was ‘bullying’ mentality of the senior staff - Lack of the ‘teamwork’ environment- tasks are allocated by the lead AH & all work team members work very independently of one another - Salary: pay well below competitors Has been a breath of fresh air to move into a company who demonstrates the desired values for progression & enjoyment of this great industry!
