Why diversity? Why and how to be an ally? Equality or equity? What does the ideal future look like for diversity? At a recent NASSCOM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion roadshow we explored these and many such pertinent questions in a series of panel discussions which we were privileged to host, with @NASSCOM Foundation curating speakers and themes. Speaking about the role of CXOs in driving the inclusion agenda, Amardeep Devadason, who is Sr. VP, Operations with us, remarked, “It’s important for leaders to articulate their vision consistently and frequently. We have to channel our energies on things that can be done, and understand that not everything can be achieved quickly.” @Sundari Sivasubbu, Associate Manager in our Communications team, brought to light some of the challenges neuro-diverse persons face in everyday life, while sharing her personal experiences. If there is one universally applicable suggestion everyone could take back, it is “make reasonable accommodation to ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”.
We helped do some crystal-ball gazing on the future of hiring and talent strategy, at a recent LinkedIn event where we were part of a panel discussion. At RRD, we cherish our people culture, which has seen us evolve over one and a half centuries, no less! It is our pride and privilege to be able to share some of our learnings and thoughts with HR leaders from various domains. RRD was represented by Jayanthi Shivakumar, Director, Human Resources, RRD GO Creative™, on stage. She stressed on employee experience being a precursor to customer experience, and how the concept of wellbeing is approached from all angles at RRD, including use of technology.
We hosted a 2 hour meet curated by Periferry on the theme of promoting transgender inclusion in the workplace. The event saw HR professionals and diversity and inclusion practitioners engage in insightful discussions to promote trans-inclusion by creating Inclusive jobs, supporting career growth for transgender persons while also exploring solutions to deal with challenges the community faces. We are glad to be able to play a part in the collective pursuit of bringing inclusion across all fronts.
At RRD GO Creative™ it is a month-long observation and celebration of Women’s Day. The events, themed around #EmbraceEquity, began with challenging our mindset and attitudes, and inherent biases and prejudices with an expert session on Micro Bias organized virtually across Chennai, Trivandrum, Manila, and Colombo. Our women colleagues from Chennai took part in free health camps organized jointly with our health partners. We complemented the serious discussions and wellness sessions, by making some time for fun, too. A special talent show was organized on March 8, in which where our colleagues regaled us with a stunning display of artistic, vocal, dance, and musical talents. Here’s to a more equal world!
The future is exciting, and it will be shaped by the technology and business leaders of tomorrow. We recently had the perfect opportunity to interact with one such cohort, the MBA students at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and talk about Marketing in the Metaverse. The topic is dear to us at RRD GO Creative™ since we strive to make our customers go virtual and interact better with their customers. We spoke about the transformative power of an immersive set of technologies for B2C businesses, employee experience across the board, and of course, social interactions. Whichever lens you look through, this is an exciting time to get started on Metaverse. A shout out to Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi for enabling this session with their students, whose energy and enthusiasm rubbed off on us for sure.
At RRD GO Creative™, we believe women who want a second shot at their career are as serious about work as we are. Their past experiences will help bring mission-critical skills and learning to our teams and show the way for other women and mothers keen to work again. Are you ready to bounce back this year? RRD GO Creative™ was at the #ReviveForum2023 in Bangalore, organized by PeriFerry. The organization is an impact enterprise dedicated to creating employment and upskilling opportunities for the queer and transgender community. Our commitment to equal opportunity for all extends to the community at large. Our participation in, and support to this event is a way in which we were part of celebrating diversity and at the same time, engaging in thought-provoking discussions around workplace issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, and sharing best practices to combat the same. RRD leaders, Janine Nirmal and Sameena Mahmood, who are passionate about community and causes, joined the discussions alongside peers from other organizations, in a round table conference at the event, centered around the topic of creating safe spaces.
