Director, Human Resources Relationship Leader Interview

      23 Jul 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at American Express

      Interview

Applied for the Director, RL position earlier this year and received a call from Staffing. Quickly moved to an interview with the hiring manager. Unfortunately, I had to reach out to Staffing for feedback 3 weeks after the interview as opposed to them proactively reaching out to me to let me know that the hiring manager chose another candidate but that I would be kept in the pipeline for other roles. Several weeks later, surprisingly I get a call from Staffing to let me know that the hiring managers "continue to express interest" in my resume and asked me to apply for a new Director, RL role that became available. I applied and quickly moved to being set up for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. That seemed to go well and the hiring manager told me that he wanted me to meet his boss. One full month later, I actually was scheduled to meet his peer, and then just under one month later, scheduled to meet the hiring manager's boss. The unfortunate aspect of my interview experience was the lack of follow-up skills on the part of Staffing. As I had made it to the third and final interview, one would think that Staffing would reach out to me and close the loop or provide me with an update so that I would not have to be left wondering about the stafus of my candidacy. Unfortunately, I had to reach out to Staffing and was told the hiring managers were in "due diligence" which was very vague and general, and that when she had an update, she would contact me. I was never contacted until over month later when I sent a friendly check in email to ask if the recruiter could speak live. Instead of a personalized approach (again...I made it to the third interview), the reply was a cut and pasted, lousy, typical line...."other candidates (plural) were chosen that more closely matched the skills/experience that they are seeking..." Needless to say, I was very disappointed after having interviewed with them over the course of 3 months, and then not to have even been given the courtesy of an actual phone call from Staffing with feedback.
