Risk Analyst - Enterprise Risk Management Interview

      29 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (Toronto, ON) in Sept 2018

      Interview

First round - HR. Very quick. Asked about why Amex, why this position, my background, visa, and salary expectation. Second round - With two managers. First 30 minutes asked about my background. If I know about enterprise risk management. My presentation skills. Do I know about risk appetite. The last 30 minutes were managers trying to sell Amex to me. Last round - With CRO. Basic behavioral question. Salary negotiation - Amex offered me a very low salary and they locate 1 hour away from downtown Toronto. Salary should compensate some of my transportation fee. I politely asked about it. HR called me: 'No widdle room. Your past internship experience doesn't count. You have no market value. Accept it!' So unprofessional. :(

      Question 1

What's your working style? How do you solve a challenge? What kind of management style do you have? What's your biggest selling point? Risk appetite, enterprise risk... (Read John Hull's textbook!) Tell me more about the project you worked on at your previous job.
