      Senior Product Manager Interview

      4 Aug 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Autodesk (Dallas, TX) in Jun 2022

      Interview

This is a interview review for the Autodesk Construction Cloud division. The interview process started well. But, for the first time I had a bad experience with such a renowned big company. Usually companies like Autodesk have better during & follow up interview process and have empathy. In my second round of interview with the Hiring Manager, I was told that I was good but not the best and they wanted some rockstar Product Manager. They said that I would be fit to be a Jr Product Manager and perhaps be able to land a Sr. PM job in a smaller company. No issues with the fact that they did not find my experience to be upto the mark of what the sr product manager would be if I worked there. I feel they could have seen my resume and been able to decide that even before they asked to interview me. The above experience still would have been fine, if I received some sort of rejection email from them. The HR never followed up. I followed up with him a 1.5 weeks after the interview just to understand the reasoning. He did not even reply to my email. I was pretty much ghosted. Fortunately, I was able to find a good job at a good company soon thereafter. I wanted to mention this because after my maternity career break, I did have some difficulty landing a job and the right people/ company saw beyond that but, this wasn't a great experience. I have a solid career prior to the maternity break.

Overall very good a bit slow in scheduling interviews and giving prompt responses but it's worth it. Interviewers are generally nice and ask relevant questions that pertain to your job.
