Interview
Extreme disorder and unprofessionalism from HR throughout the interview process, did not expect it at all from Gartner. HR joined almost 15 minutes late at the interview without even a simple “sorry”, HR camera was off while I had it on (despite it was supposed to be a “video call” as mentioned on the interview email). While I was talking there were people commenting with sarcastic jokes on the background, HR only realized and stopped it after I mention it. Instructions on the second interview was given by email in a complete disorganized and chaotic way, using 2021 instructions and guidelines (clearly highlighted). I had very high reputation and was very excited for an opportunity in Gartner but what I experienced was simply unprofessional and very low level, i refused to go on to the second interview. Truly hope it was only a one time mistake….
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why you want to join Gartner? Why you want to work as a BDR?
Recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn, I did not even apply but figured I’d hear about the position. Had a great conversation then the recruiter never followed up with me when she said she would. I sent emails following up on the interview process and got ignored. Incredibly unprofessional I’d believe the negative reviews on here.
I applied online. I interviewed at Gartner (Istanbul) in Mar 2026
Interview
Overall, the company left the impression of having very poor process management. I entered their recruitment process twice, and both times the process consisted of 5 lengthy stages:
30-minute introductory call
STAR method interview
Role-play session
Manager interview
Recruitment and business introduction meeting
Especially the 2nd and 3rd stages were extremely challenging and required serious preparation. Despite expecting significant effort and preparation from candidates, the communication and process management were not handled with the same level of professionalism.
I progressed to the 4th stage, but then they kept me waiting for about a month without any proper update. Eventually, they informed me that the position had been frozen. For such a global company, not being able to properly plan and manage hiring positions within the year was quite surprising.
In addition, despite the long and demanding process, the salary offered was not particularly above the market average. Overall, I did not find the candidate experience professional or well-organized.
The first round was mostly behavioral questions. HR focused on understanding my personal thinking, problem-solving style, and how I approach challenges, rather than just my past work experience. They wanted to learn more about my values, motivation, and how I make decisions in different situations. The conversation felt like a mix of personal insight questions and hypothetical scenarios.
