I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at IBM in Jan 2011
Interview
All interviewing was done over the phone. Connecting at a personal level with the managers seems to have been a good thing. (Managers from NC, so talked about some NC basketball history). Technical questions were tricky but nothing overwhelming for someone right out of college

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at IBM (El Salto, Jalisco) in May 2013
Interview
I had one interview with the final customer. I got a lot of "situation" questions instead technical ones. UNIX and Websphere were must. The process was pretty quick as well the process to accept an offer. The interview process was very short and they decided on me and notified about their decision in about 2 hours.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at IBM (Costa Mesa, CA) in Nov 2012
Interview
Phone interview, 1 on 1.
The phone interview was more of a screening process to see if you would fit the qualifications. Not super technical, but that may vary by the manager interviewing you.
The 1 on 1 was minimally stressful, but the hiring manager was a very nice guy and wasn't looking to tear you down.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IBM (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jun 2012
Interview
Had Phone screen with HR talking about you are currently do and what you are looking for, and another phone screen with the manager, you can ask questions about what the team does. After these phone screens, had the Technique test. They sent you the tutorial and relative online document, so you will familiar with the technology they are using. Last is in-person interview, asked more behavior questions.
