      Development Engineer Interview

      16 Feb 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at IBM (Austin, TX) in Feb 2011

      Interview

I applied online through IBM's website. About a month later I received a call from HR asking some clarifying questions about my resume and experience. That conversation went well, and the lady told me she would forward my resume. The next day I heard from someone in the department I would be working in. He asked me questions more about my technical experience and projects. That conversation also went well and he told me I should expect to hear from HR. It has been a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything yet. Overall this has been a very positive experience, and i hope to have the opportunity to start my career with IBM.

      Interview

I talked to a recruiter during a career fair and set up an interview the very next day. The interview was mainly behavioral and went over which team I would be interested in. I was then scheduled with another technical interview with the manager of the designated team. They asked me several basic C related questions. I took a logic test then received the offer after a while.

Initially had 2 phone interviews with hiring managers lasting 30 mins each. After that I got invited to come on site for a formal interview consisting of 8 30 minute long one on one interviews, a seminar, and a lab tour. Got a call from a manager a week later welcoming me onboard. The official offer came 2 days later.

      Question 1

Most questions had to do with my experience and research interests. There were no unexpected questions. A large portion of the interview was to ensure a good fit with the group's dynamic.
