      Manager Interview

      30 Nov 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Detroit, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Detroit, MI) in Nov 2017

      Interview

I was referred in by a current employee. Let me just kick this off by saying that the initial interview process was good. Where it went bad was during the final round of interviews onsite at one of their company locations. Let me preface all the below to add that this was for a role in Sales. Let's start off the with good: HR was receptive Travel Desk was great Some of the MS employees I spoke/met with are great people, respectful and very informative this is where is ends ... On to the NOT so GREAT : After the initial screen and first (informal) calls if you make the cut you get to interview in the final round... be careful for what you wish for here ... Final round consists of approx 4 people interviewing you for 45min with 15 min breaks between each interview. You usually start in the morning and it goes on from there.. Halfway thru one of my interviews I was blindsided (left field) by one interviewer asking me to do a technical role play that had no bearing on the role ...needless to say I did not do that well. The icing however on the cake was one interviewer had me waiting for close to 45mins, did not even apologize for being late and proceed to rush thru the interview and then after 15min he had to leave saying he had to be elsewhere Rude ! This last interview was outlined as a lunch interview with lunch being served (didn't happen) by now after hours of interviewing I was loosing steam and was told on my way out after all was done that there were box lunches if I wanted to grab one on my way out. While I went into this with high hopes I came away with the feeling that they had already decided to recruit someone from the inside who was also interviewing and that all this was a huge waste of time. Some of the questions/inquires were asked in a way to try and make you intentionally fail their test. The worst part in all this was the rudeness, self righteousness and disrespect that was shown by some of the interviewers, that overshadowed any of the good people I had met with during this final round. It has been about 10 days I have not heard back and can safely assume that I did not get the job. Key here is no communication no response as to status ....

      Interview

I interviewed for a manager role at Microsoft through a structured, multi-stage process. The interviews focused on leadership style, problem solving, and cross-team collaboration. Each interviewer asked behavioral questions tied to real scenarios, and the overall experience was professional, organized, and fairly challenging.
