      Sales Associate Interview

      19 Feb 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Middletown, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stryker (Middletown, NJ)

      Interview

Interviewed initially with sales manager and area director simultaneously. Was asked a few questions about my sales style, approach and experience then they took turns for 30-40 minutes telling me why Stryker was better than the competition. Received a call 3 hours later to schedule a ride-along with sales rep. "Ride-along" ended up being a 30 minute interview *to which they arrived 30 mins late* with the two aforementioned employees and the sales rep. They collectively did all the talking. Received a call later that day to tell me I was the person and I merely had to interview with the VP the following week. VP interview went well. Took Gallup two weeks later. Gallup folks told me my results would be in the hands of my hiring manager with 48 hours and I should follow up with hiring manager. For some reason, however, my hiring manager told me 3 days later, a week later and two weeks later that my results had yet to arrive. At the one week point I didnt feel I was being dealt with honestly and continued my search elsewhere.

      Interview

There are five to six stages! First a recruiter, then hiring manager, then personality test, then your actual boss, then a group Interview. The entire process takes about 1.5 to 2 weeks. Some people have to do a case study as well.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stryker

      Interview

Very casual phone calls and coffee chats. The gallup is hard and questions can be ambiguous so talk to a rep beforehand and ask them about their experience and tips they have. For the most part it has been phone calls to understand who you are but make sure to sell yourself everytime.

      Interview

The interview process has been great so far…my first one was a phone screening with their hiring manager. It was basic questions. Tell me about yourself. Why do you want to do medical sales who I’ve networked with etc. I then got moved on to an interview with their regional manager. The questions were tell me about yourself. What makes me different and then ended with behavioral questions that I focus using the star method to answer. I got moved onto the next round and now I’m waiting for an interview with the regional manager again, as well as other team members that I would be supporting. So far the interview process has been amazing and everyone I’ve met so far is great. I think as long as you have stories that you can tell about yourself as far as teamwork dealing with difficult situations from your past experience and how I think strategically is really important.
