      Sales Representative Interview

      16 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stryker in Nov 2021

      Interview

Interview process consisted of the following over the span of 1.5 months: -Phone screen with recruitment -Phone interview with manager -Gallup assessment (if you do not pass this you do not hear back or move to the next step) I passed, and was alerted by the next day directly from the Manager that I was going to proceed to the next round -Next interview consisted of a in-person panel mock sales call consisting of several individuals (2 Managers and 6 Reps) from immediate division and other specialties where you present 10 minutes "About Me" then 45 Minutes on a provided case scenario where you are fully in-character and each member plays a role. This is a very intense portion of the interview as it takes a ton of prep work and thought in order to make a good impression (role-playing is always awkward) but its definitely impactful in this type of role. In the "About Me" portion they really want to know who you are and cut through the weeds, bring out your personality and get very personal (not mandatory, but they want to know the type of person they will be working with everyday). They put you in the hot seat and absolutely take you out of your comfort zone to gauge how you will be in the real-world, but if you are VERY prepared and honest it will go smoother than you think (do not sleep on this part - it is crucial and they want to know what resources you used and who you reached out to at Stryker outside of the immediate group. -Next was a ride-along where I attended an operational procedure to see what it was really like, and to be sure I would be able to handle it. This was the best part. -Next I had a lunch set up with several team members, very informal, but just to see how personalities would align to be sure I'd be a fit. This is where the process ended. During the entire process I made several contacts internally through mutual relations, used resources by calling doctors whom I had relationships with in my territory to gain their opinions and completed a formalized pamphlet with territory plans, resume and accolades (at-will, not required), but they do ask what you did to prepare (for the mock sales call), if you spoke to anyone and how you knew them. It was silent for a little over two weeks when the manager reached out directly to touch base (very respectful and greatly appreciated as I worked extremely hard and they personally took the time to reach out to me). This is when I was made aware I was not chosen since my background was not strong enough to handle the role (Pharma experience, but no enterprise sales or medical sales experience). I was told I did a great job and that I should be proud of how far I had come. This stung a bit to be completely honest, I truly gave it everything and at the end of the day if they can see that - I did everything I could do. In all - after this process I feel like I can handle any interview and it has helped immensely in prepping for other interviews I have had since.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Too many to remember - the case study was a mock sales call where you were provided a scenario with objections and had to research the company, products and competition in order to handle your own during the call (as you would in real life).

      Interview

Recruiter Screen - Recruiter was new but friendly. Stryker screens for hunter mentalities, speak to that and you will pass. Hiring Manager Virtual Call - Role specific questions, how you’ll build territory, sales success Gallup - 30 minute rapid fire interview. I don’t mind Gallup but believe it’s odd that they can’t provide feedback or clarification on questions they ask.
