      Executive Team Leader Interview

      11 Mar 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Feb 2015

      Interview

Target has a well structured interview process. I visited Target's booth at a career fair and spoke with a gentleman who offered to schedule an interview for me for this position. The interview was held on campus, and they were interviewing a bunch of other students this day. I overheard that many students did not show up for their interview and took advantage of the situation (made sure I delivered a fantastic interview). I was first greeted by two individuals, one being an ETL (Executive Team Leader) and another being an HR rep. One spoke while the other took down my responses. They asked 4 behavioral questions, then after I had finished they told me to wait and someone would be in shortly. I was then greeted by two more individuals, this time members who where higher up in management (store manager, assistant store manager). Again, they asked 4 behavioral questions and when I had finished, told me to wait outside. I was finally greeted by the senior HR manager who took me into another office for a one on one interview. This time, the interview consisted of situational questions, and there were 3 asked. The senior HR manager mentioned that the team really enjoyed speaking with me, and that I was very likable (carry a SMILE, ALWAYS! Make eye contact, ask questions when they're done asking questions, get to know them and how they came to their position, etc.) She asked if I was currently considering other opportunities and that someone would be in touch within a week. A few days later I received a call to set up one final short interview with a District Team Leader. This interview was very different than previous interviews, as we were simply getting to know one another (since I'd be working within her district). She asked of my long term goals, why I'm interested in this position, etc. She then told me a recruiter would be in touch within a week to discuss an offer. My tips to you on a successful interview from my experience. 1. SMILE, eye-contact, ask relevant and open ended questions to get the interviewers talking and involved! 2. Take your time thinking about your answers if you need to, they allow it. Ask them to repeat the question should you need to. They want you to succeed! Definitely practice beforehand so you have an idea of how to tackle a behavioral question. USE THE STAR APPROACH. 3. Make a great first impression! An initial handshake and smile goes a long way.

      Interview

It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
