R&D Chemist-Shift

Job Description:
R&D Chemist (Shift) will support research, product development, and material characterization activities in the R&D laboratory. The role involves operating analytical and thermal characterization equipment, conducting chemical and physical tests, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting regulatory and quality compliance activities in an ISO 17025 laboratory environment. The position requires working in rotational shifts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work in rotational shifts as per laboratory requirements
- Perform testing as per ASTM, ISO, IS, IEC, and other applicable standards
- Accurately record test observations, collate data, and prepare test reports
- Support the Laboratory Manager in maintaining laboratory operations and documentation in line with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of test samples
- Conduct material characterization using analytical instruments such as DSC, DMA, FTIR, GC, and Thermal Conductivity measurement systems.
- Perform routine chemical and physical testing related to polymer/resin systems.
- Prepare samples, execute tests, analyze results, and maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 laboratory procedures and quality systems.
- Support DSIR-related documentation and activities during audits/inspections.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, good laboratory practices, and housekeeping, follow safety practices, and support ongoing R&D and testing activities.
Key Skills:
- Strong computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, basic data handling)
- Sound academic foundation in engineering concepts, chemistry etc.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Interest and aptitude for technical testing and laboratory work
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Positive attitude with a strong learning mindset
- Knowledge of analytical and thermal characterization techniques preferred
- Familiarity with polymer/resin testing preferred.
- Understanding of ISO 17025 laboratory systems and documentation practices preferred
- Strong analytical thinking and data interpretation skills.
- Good documentation and reporting ability.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Educational Qualification:
- Minimum: M.Sc. in Chemistry / Polymer Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry
Diploma (Chemical/ Mechanical)
Preferred:
1. B.Tech. (Mechanical/ Chemical)
2. Ph.D. in Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering
3. PhD. in Chemistry
Work Experience/ Competencies:
Minimum: Good technical knowledge about instrumentation mentioned above
Preferred:
Fresher or up to 2 years of experience in a testing laboratory
Prior exposure to testing of resins, polymers, thermosetting composites will be an added advantage
