Pros
Once upon a time, they used to be very helpful at finding very good candidates positions (full time and contract work) and if something didn't work out for either their client or the employee, they would at least continue working with the individual and find them something different.
Cons
Absolutely no common courtesy any more; treat recommended candidates with respect - RESPOND to their e-mail or phone calls.
