Pros

My team was the biggest pro at Eventbrite. We had open lines of communication and collaboration. Taking time off was never an issue and the work/life balance was fairly good, especially for being it IT. My team was full of passionate and caring individuals who I would love to work with again. The benefits were fairly decent as well.

Cons

Upper management is incompetent at best and malicious at worse, especially the CEO. They never provided a vision worth working towards and when the MOST recent layoffs happened they tried to spin it off as "only 8%" but in reality they were outsourcing the other 30% to India. The CEO said in a All Hands meeting "we're a people first company" while explaining why 38% of her employees just lost a job. The CFO also talked about how Eventbrite has never been more profitable in the same All Hands. The entire executive staff is out of touch and needs to be replaced. Working with other departments was a real pain in the butt for the most part. They often didn't have answers to the questions we had or flat out didn't respond to us. On-boarding and off-boarding new employees was a nightmare for a long time to the lack of communication between IT, HR, and Recruiting, which was not for a lack of trying.

Pros

Meaningful relationships with other coworkers. A unique ability to trauma bond.

Cons

Leadership. Julia Hartz. A complete and utter inability to take accountability. Bigoted belief system. Consistently dishonest communication. Lack of growth and development opportunities. Will outsource labor of literally all types.

Pros

I had the best coworkers and the environment was always so welcoming. You were encouraged and given the tools to grow. Benefits were amazing and bringing the pup to work was always the best experience

Cons

Like other tech companies, there were a lot of last-minute shifts with organizational structure, goals and initiatives, etc. - This isn't necessarily a con and is common in tech and startups, but the company was more than 12 years old, so I feel there should have been more structure and experience when making these changes. The way the company handled the 2020 COVID layoffs was less than professional and should have been handled in a different way than they did. I won't do into details more than it was a very cold experience and the teams that were assigned to be supportive to the 40% of employees let go never met the expectations they had sent in their communications.
