Despite what some headlines say, a new report claims by 2040, more than HALF of all the meat we eat will either be lab grown or plant-based. Sounds good to us. đ đ«§đ

Interesting breakdown on the climate impact of different diets from TIME. It's also worth noting, however, that even moderating your meat intake can make a massive difference as well as the choice of animal protein one eats, if they so chose to. "The report went on to note that were a third of the nationâs omnivores, who accounted for 86% of survey respondents, to give up meat on any given day, it would be equivalent to eliminating 340 million passenger vehicle miles-worth of carbon emissions. If a third gave up meat for a year, it would amount to 4.9% of total U.S. emissions reduction goals under the Paris climate accord, while substantially improving nutrition quality." #meat #meatindustry #diet #diets #food #foodindustry #paleo #keto #vegetarian #omnivore #climate #climatechange #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #sustainablefood #cultivatedmeat
Bean-free chocolate and coffee may sound odd...until you realize just how severe the impact of climate change is on crops such as these. The good news? Technology has the potential for impact not just when it comes to alternative proteins, but for some of our other favorite foods, too.

When you need 10 trillion animal cells for a single steak, how do you make lab-cultivated meat in a way thatâs scalable and commercially viable? For SCiFi Foods, the answer is #CRISPR. Using gene editing, Benchling customer SCiFi is the first to grow beef cells in single-cell suspension â the greatest zero-to-one in the space, reducing its cost of production by 1000x. We are proud to support its mission to bring cultivated beef to market â proven to be better for the planet. Check out more on that here: https://lnkd.in/djau6FQ3 #BuiltOnBenchling
"A recent investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the Guardian found that companies supplying beef to McDonald's, Taco Bell and Walmart are still getting meat from farms using antibiotics classified by the WHO as âhighest priority critically importantâ to human health." "Modern life is unnatural: We canât restore the true natural order, but we can advocate for an existence that limits the harm we inflict on the natural world." Interesting piece from WIRED. Also important to note: we only harvest once from the animals (not repeatedly). And at SCiFi, we're proud to have proven that we do, in fact, have a lower carbon footprint that traditional ground beef. #cultivatedmeat #labgrownmeat #meat #sustainability #factoryfarming #science #technology #foodtech #futureoffood #climatechange
