When it comes to food, "the potential for using CRISPR to improve crops is 'remarkable'... and could help secure food for billions of people, even as climate change threatens more floods, droughts and diseases." From USA TODAY, a look at how we're using CRISPR now and (just a few) examples of what the future might hold. #CRISPR #food #foodtech #biotech #biotechnology #tech #news #science #futureoffood #geneediting #climatechange #sustainability Karen Weintraub
Looks like the University of Cincinnati has a very fun class coming up this spring (and thanks to Dr. Howard Baum for including us in the curriculum). Take a look at the below, "New Technologies from 2023 and into the Future." There's some fascinating information, exciting science, and we certainly hope all the students taking part find science as incredibly cool as we do. 🫧🐄🫧 #future #students #university #science #CRISPR #geneediting #bioengineering #synbio #syntheticbiology #food #foodtech #cincinnati #ohio #college
People are okay with drinking beer from large steel tanks...but not meat. And this needs to change. Michael Grunwald explains why it's time for anyone with qualms about technology's role in food to get over them. #technology #food #foodtech #cultivatedmeat #foodpress #news #crispr

A little SCiFi News today...Transparency is one of our core beliefs, so we decided to prove the climate impact of our burgers. Earlier in the year, we conducted the first LCA (life cycle analysis) specifically around cultivated beef products. We then submitted this to Sustainability, an academic journal, where it was then peer-reviewed, approved, and ultimately published just two weeks ago. Talib Visram of Fast Company has more on the study, our science, and why this matters. #sustainability #sustainable #foodtech #biotech #bioengineering #cultivatedmeat #cellbasedmeat #meatindustry #foodsystem #foodindustry #climate #climatechnage #startups #press #foodnews
"Look for beef prices to rise in 2023 and 2024 – in part because drought in Texas is forcing ranchers to send more cows to slaughter." It's not just inflation — it's climate change. And this is why we need science and innovation to help. #climatechange #science #foodtech #innovation #business
