      Department Administrative Assistant Interview

      29 Mar 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ADP in Feb 2015

      Interview

Applied online and their talent acquisition rep contacted me a few days later. That initial phone call was secretly a mini phone interview and if you pass they'll schedule you for an interview right there. I passed and got an interview for the X Department Admin Asst/Support. The position was basically to support the team with typical admin duties but also cross-check their work and be second support to other departments. It was an admin that was higher up the chain but still an administrative assistant. I was told to bring examples of my past work to show how what I did for my current job matched their job, I did so and brought a copy of my resume, I also arrived in plenty of time and dressed in a conservative business-casual outfit. I was taken to the interview room and found out 4 people would be interviewing me. They were all department managers and after pleasantries were exchanged they got right down to it. There were very few behavioral questions and instead they went line-by-line down my resume and questioned everything I did and asked me to expand on what I wrote. It was more like an interrogation. I was pretty surprised (it seemed overly aggressive for the position title) but I wasn't caught off guard and I answered to the best of my ability. They took copious notes and when they were done they asked if I had questions, I did and the questions I asked were complimented as being great. They did not ask to see the work I brought and when they brought up pay they said it was non-negotiable. They said it was urgent they filled the position and would have a decision by a certain day. The day after my interview I emailed one of the 4 managers, the only one to give me a card, and followed up with a pleasant email and a thank you. There was no reply. After decision day came and went I then emailed the recruiter and followed up with him. No reply. I haven't heard from them since, which is fine, but to not call me or even send a rejection email is pretty classless and unprofessional. I didn't expect that from such a company.
