      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Express in Nov 2015

      Interview

I was interviewed for an hour in person. The interview went pretty well. I got a response from the staffing agency that they've liked you after a couple of days. After few follow ups with the staffing agency, I was told that the hiring manager (director) was on vacation and yet to 'catch up' on the feedback. Director was somehow going to decide on 1 of the 2 candidates (Including me). They were not sure if there'll be a 2nd interview. I found it very unprofessional. Anyways, I get a call from staffing agency that the director would like to interview me over the phone ( after 2 weeks). Director was in Arizona and 'busy' so another person calls me from that office. Her didn't even know if I was interviewed already before. I told him about the 1st interview. This guy I'd asked me all the hypothetical questions, nothing related to my actual experience. I get an email next day that they're not moving on with me. I was doubtful that something isn't right because it was all in the grey area. Director (hiring manager) didn't even speak or meet with me once. I'm glad that it didn't go through sensing the 'communication gap' in that group. I saw American Express' posting again on job board that they're still looking for a candidate for this position.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at American Express (Phoenix, AZ)

      Interview

Very professional. I was contacted after the interview telling me I did great and they wanted to go to the next step. I never heard from them again. I followed up they told me they were very interested but we're very busy onboarding. I followed up again and was told they were interested. I was contacted 4 times by different recruiters wanting an initial interview. I told them I had interviewed and would go through the initial process. Nothing ever happened. I think the company has a process break down and do not think I will consider them. I imagine a chaotic environment inside based on this experience.

      Technical Project Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at American Express (Phoenix, AZ) in Aug 2016

      Interview

Very Lengthy. I applied to several positions via their careers web site. I was first contacted for a video interview. They keep the video on file for some time. If you apply for a full time position, you should know that you will be barred from applying for any contract positions for some time. After my video interview, I was offered an onsite interview by an internal recruiter. I went to that interview, but I did not receive an offer. I actually had to follow up with the recruiter to find out I was rejected, and to be quite honest, that particular recruiter was not very professional. That was in June. I was contacted by a different recruiter for another position at the beginning of August on a Monday, and was invited onsite to interview on Friday with an Architect and another PM. (Presumably the hiring manager already reviewed my previous video interview.) About 2 weeks later, I was contacted for a 2nd onsite interview with the hiring manager and another person, although when I went to the interview on September 1st, only the hiring manager was available. A couple of weeks later, I was invited for a 3rd, short 30 minute on-site interview with a director of the PMO and one of her program managers. The day after on September 20th, I was contacted by another recruiter/HR person about an offer. The hiring manager was on vacation, and I followed up with that person about a week later. Finally, was given an offer September 28th, contingent on drug testing and background check. I was told the background check could take up to 4 WEEKS! I took the drug test and submitted the background check info right away the next day. I heard that everything was clear on 10/7. I wanted to give my current employer at least two weeks notice, and take some time off before the new job, so I negotiated a start date of 11/7. You have to join on a Monday because that's when they have orientations.
