Horrible Department Culture at that Newark Delaware Location!! - Tax Ops Analyst J.P. Morgan Employee Review

Pros

Reputable Company with Great Benefits as it relates to the Health Care and not Compensation. Will provide additional training if needed.

Cons

-Very low starting pay considering the position held. -Micro Manage, Micro Manage, Micro Manage! -No over-time pay. - They promote children with a superiority complex to supervise others, because it's easier to promote someone you know as oppose to someone better suited for the role that evokes a congenial personality. -Nepotism (but this is prevalent across corporate America). No privacy (very invasive) Prime example, I forgot to lock my computer and during this time a Instant Message was received, an employee took it upon himself to answer my IM without my approval (as I was at lunch) Talk about a violation. And when asked about his intrusion, he simply said this is what we do in "this department." -Witnessed berating and bullying like behavior from a particular team lead against the people that are apart of his team, in other words you have to walk on eggshells. -Need to conform or be molded to fit their dominating personality type; Work style have to be identical to their own if not then you're perceived as a threat. Unable to be diverse, because they prefer someone that is just like "them" or a person whom can be easily molded without question. - Dog Eat Dog Mentality; heard and witnessed Senior Management discussing other employees in a bad light ("although whispering") with their team lead on an open floor instead of getting a private room . -Parent Child Relationship instead of Employee to Employee Relationship which equals condescending behavior. -Backstabbing; High school Cool kids mentality (but keep in mind these people are in their late 20's-50's), will laugh in your face while simultaneously talking critical of you. -If you're lucky enough you'll get a Good Morning or Hello from Senior Management but don't expect an in depth conversation about your life as that talk is meant for those who they feel more comfortable around. -Senior Management will turn a blind eye and allow a particular team lead (because he is their star employee) to speak to his employees without respect, but will reprimand you once you take up for yourself. -High Turnover Rate (people don't stay in that particular department and they leave as fast as they came in (Management are always hiring for that particular position I resigned from, it's a revolving door!) - To those that are molded and are afraid to loose their measly position (I like to call these people the "submissive types") these are the people you look out for because they will stab you in the back while keeping a sweet smile positioned to your face as if you're their friend, please note these people are not your friend, and they are more like a secret enemy. And sadly they will speak wrongfully against their team lead "behind his back" but will kiss his butt when they are in his presence. This was by far the worst department I've ever worked for (and I had plenty of jobs), the culture, I couldn't believe the culture until I sat in it for less than a year. In summation, this department has a Horrible Team Lead with a disgusting disposition, with a detached Senior Manager to complete it. Good Luck if you join that department because you'll need it! -And the location is Newark Delaware (keep in mind the personalities are different from the North Jersey/NYC Tri-State personalities and the pay is significantly less.) However, outside of that department, there were friendly faces.

Pros

1. One of the best banks, heavy on tech and AI, that makes my life simple 2. Bonus is consistent every year 3. The company is highly social and multicultural. 4. A lot of training program to upskill and develop.

Cons

1. A lot of administrative items to take care of, a significant portion is spent on meetings, meetings are called to establish an agenda for next meetings, and so on. 2. Layoffs, all year round- sometimes significant, while in the middle of delivery. If your manager is off-site/ another city/country, you are more likely to be impacted. 3. Departments may have skewed gender or racial ratios. It is best to stay away to avoid discrimination (to be fair, this has less to do with culture and more to do with who the head of the department is).
