Culture shock

Pros

Pay and benefits are great for the job performed.

Cons

Inexperienced Managers Colleagues overworked - sometimes 60+ hours a week and management does not work these days. The supervisors and colleagues are the only ones working these long brutal hours. No flex days given, and the Department managers have no empathy towards the colleagues work/life balance.

Toxic and dysfunctional

Pros

Pay and great company perks

Cons

Lack of clear job roles and responsibilities Endless amount of trackers to cover for the lack of properly functioning systems. No cohesive systems between manufacturing systems so everything is done with excel spreadsheets. Favoritism and if you’re not one they make it so toxic to push you out. No accountability from leadership who expects everyone else to fix the issues they create, but will dislike any suggestions you make. 10+ hours a day short staffed 0 work life balance.

Sr. Leadership is Out of Touch

Pros

Remote work and flexible schedule. The company owns several brands. As an employee, you get nice discounts.

Cons

The company says they want to foster a healthy, positive work culture, but their actions speak otherwise. Sr. Leadership’s lack of involvement with huge key decisions is negatively impacting employee morale. They keep pushing and adding impossible workloads with no clear direction. They expect you to figure things out with zero training or support from the company. They check off boxes like they’ve done adequate training, etc. so it looks good on paper, but it is a farce. Some of the most talented people I know are undervalued and given near impossible tasks placing incredibly talented people in losing positions. Things are very political and departments like to point fingers to absolve themselves of blame. Mid level management and teams are working crazy hours to train themselves and try to meet impossible demands. Sr. Leadership is more concerned about KPI’s than the people that make up their company. The integration teams are too small with too few decision makers resulting in confusion, frustration, and work fatigue, driving talented people away.

Pros

Strong cross-functional collaboration was the best part of my job.

Cons

Reporting to incompetent, weak-minded, emotionally immature Supply Chain leadership was the worst part of my job. Promotions were given to sycophants. Magically, people with no people management experience were promoted to people managers who micro-managed experienced staff. Career development was not supported unless you were pegged as a "favorite," so pursuing additional learning on your own was viewed as a threat rather than encouraged. Long hours were expected and not appreciated.
