Pros

I joined the company thinking what a great concept. After meeting all the team members and management I was in Awe and amazed of all the talent that's there throughout the field and management team. Every voice matters. They listen and make changes so you have a direct impact on the growth of the company. They are motivating and always put their employees first. This company has a new CEO and he is so motivating that after listening to him it makes you want to go out there and succeed. Own what you love and love what you do. That's what makes me get up every morning and own what I love to do.

Cons

So far so good. None at the moment. Growing pains are there but who doesn't have that. That's what makes the job so satisfying, seeing your accomplishments at the end of a long day.

Pros

I work directly with the CEO and senior management (of both XpresSpa and the parent company), and they are a great team: down to earth, respectful and encouraging of work/family/life balance, innovative and constantly thinking of new ways to grow and expand the business. They are very mindful of maintaining a great company culture with continuous ideas of team-building events, activities, and meetings. Under previous ownership and management, the culture was not so great, but I see firsthand how hard Ed and team are working in genuine effort to turn it around, and it is certainly working. I have worked in other companies that thrived on negativity and only acknowledged the wrong, and it made for a very toxic work environment which carried out in everyone's work and the customers/clients they faced on a daily basis. (This can truly affect employees' moods and they can take it home with them at the end of the day.) XpresSpa's CEO Ed Jankowski makes sure to express his appreciation for people and acknowledge their work and achievements, and that really contributes to a high employee morale. This is why I feel good coming to work everyday. Ed is intelligent, extensively experienced, as well as a great problem-solver and decision-maker- he is a stellar leader and I love working with him. The CEO of the parent company told me something when I started that truly started me off on the right foot and is something I will always remember: "I am so glad you are here." More employers need to be saying this, because the more an employee feels appreciated, the more happy and productive they will be, which will surely be reflected in their work.

Cons

Due to the rapid growth of the company, everyone is extremely busy

Pros

Cross-experience in different disciplines because corporate staff is minimal

Cons

I worked with the original CEO, who was an extremely temperamental, verbally abusive and volatile person who would expect you to stay late into the night working on his personal projects that have no connection to the company. Also I directly reported to a COO type who had no understanding of what I do, this person would be replaced every six months and the new person wanted to re-vamp the brand from scratch.

Pros

None! Literally... none!!! I can not think of a single positive thing to say.

Cons

This is hands down the single most dysfunctional company I have ever worked for. The CEO, Ed, and the Director of Spa's, Angelia, are in an ongoing feud that results in the most outlandish and inappropriate communication to the teams in the field. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the $90k Area Manager salary I was paid could not keep me around. Employees are rarely paid on time, never paid what they are promised, and worked until they eventually break/quit. This company has the highest turn over rate of any organization I have ever been a part of. Side note... I know for a fact (as I was asked to do this) that the positive reviews posted to Glassdoor are the result of upper management soliciting employees in the corporate office to write them in order to offset all of the negative posts. Seriously people, work anywhere else than here!

Pros

I had an incredible work experience and would recommend anyone to work for this company. Hard working, passionate people is what you find in every market and role. In particularly impressed by the new CEO!

Cons

There is no such thing as a utopia in any job. The important thing is that there is forward movement to address, grow and evolve. I found that to be true when I worked there.
