About Palaestra Pro

Palaestra Pro is an early-stage Gym Management SaaS startup based out of Pune, India. We're building the missing software layer for India's 2.5 lakh+ fitness businesses — gyms, yoga studios, dance academies, and wellness centers — that still run entirely on Excel sheets and WhatsApp. Our platform automates memberships, attendance, billing, and renewal reminders so fitness business owners can focus on growing their community, not managing spreadsheets.

Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Full Stack Developer Intern to join our founding team. This is not a bench role, you will be writing real code, building real features, and shipping to a live product used by actual gym owners. If you love building things that matter and want startup experience from day one, this is for you.

What You'll Be Doing

Product Development

• Build and maintain core modules of the Palaestra Pro platform — member management, attendance tracking, billing, and renewal systems
• Develop clean, scalable RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js
• Build responsive and intuitive frontend interfaces using React.js
• Work with MongoDB for database design, queries, and optimisation

Feature Ownership

• Own complete features end-to-end — from API design to frontend implementation
• Implement role-based access control — admin, trainer, front desk roles
• Build the WhatsApp notification integration backend for automated renewal reminders
• Develop the analytics backend — revenue trends, churn rate, member growth queries

Code Quality & Collaboration

• Write clean, well-commented, and maintainable code
• Maintain proper Git commit history and follow branch management practices
• Collaborate directly with the technical co-founder on architecture decisions
• Participate in weekly sync calls and async standups

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

• Solid understanding of JavaScript — both frontend and backend
• Hands-on experience with React.js — components, hooks, state management
• Experience building REST APIs with Node.js and Express.js
• Working knowledge of MongoDB — CRUD operations, schema design
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub — commits, branches, pull requests
• Ability to work independently with minimal hand-holding

Good to Have:

• Prior internship experience in web development
• Experience with authentication — JWT, session-based
• Exposure to any payment gateway APIs (Razorpay, Stripe)
• Basic understanding of deployment — Vercel, Railway, or any cloud platform
• Knowledge of TypeScript is a bonus

Pay: ₹2,000.00 - ₹8,000.00 per month
