Okay job, terrible leadership

Pros

Decent PTO, some good benefits.

Cons

Leadership is completely incompetent and don’t do much. In the branch, bankers are expected to do everything- absolutely everything. There’s almost no reason for a branch manager to exist as most of them are never in branch and don’t know how to do anything. All of the workload falls on the personal bankers and it’s not fair.

Pros

They encourage you to grow, and it's a stable job.

Cons

Branch manager needs more training in managing. I have had good and bad managers. If you are on top of the scorecard, you are untouchable, but it applies to managers as well to abuse their power over their team. Due to the fact that managers are paid a salary, some only show up for less than 3 hours a day or week. In my own branch experience, there is favoritism and blatant disrespect from manager to PCB, FWC and Tellers.

Pros

From a pay and work duties standpoint, you could do a lot worse than KeyBank. Many of the branch managers I had were excellent; I met some very kind and very supportive people during my time there.

Cons

It is impossible to untangle my feelings towards KeyBank from the behavior I saw while I worked there. I rotated between more than five different branches in total and the level of workplace professionalism I encountered was not good. In my experience Key seems to hire a lot of younger staff (late teens and early twenties) and there was A LOT of immaturity and bad behavior wherever I went. Of course there were nice people as well, but in only a few short months I saw so much childishness that I quickly came to the conclusion that I did not want to be part of such an organization.

Pros

PTO is the only benefit that was great.

Cons

Immature Senior Leadership that gossips about branches and staff to other branches. I was in my late 40’s with over 20 years of leadership, I couldn’t even secure an interview for a promotion to Branch Manager in spite of leading much larger teams and a proven track record . I watched 3 new leaders hire in from the outside, while not only not allowing me to interview, but other very capable Bankers as well. Many of us left simultaneously, to secure bigger jobs with other organizations and are doing well. I watched the new Branch Managers flounder prior to leaving because Key actually thought their Banker would help train them?? I observed someone in Senior Leadership return to the branch and brag that a Regional, himself and someone in wealth, “took bets”, on how long one female manager would last, not even realizing the optics of how much of an immature boys club it appeared to be. I could go on and on, but mostly glad I left. The only job in my life that I feel I wasted 2 years of my life.
