ABOUT US
Bain & Company is one of the top management consulting firms in the world. In 2004, the firm established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center in Gurugram, now renamed as Bain Capability Network (BCN). The BCN plays a critical role in supporting Bain's case teams and initiatives globally to help with analytics and research across all industries for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. In 2018, the BCC evolved to the BCN (Bain Capability Network) to reflect our growing global presence.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
Within BCN’s Private Equity Group Centre of Excellence (BCN PEG CoE), this position is for a Project Leader (PL) focused on serving due diligences in the Utilities and Energy sector. The BCN PEG CoE works on live due diligences and IP/CD with Bain case teams across the globe. The work spans a breadth of analyses including market sizing, competitive intelligence, target screening, operational benchmarking, supply chain assessments, regulatory analysis, digital and grid analytics, and disruption assessments.
The role of a BCN PEG Utilities PL will be to serve cases across utilities sub-sectors such as power generation (conventional and renewable), transmission & distribution (T&D), smart grids, energy storage, grid modernization, utility services, analyze regulatory frameworks in the US utilities sector (e.g., rate cases, decarbonization mandates) and adjacent industrial ecosystems (e.g., switchgear, transformers, and MRO/industrial manufacturing for utilities). The BCN PEG Utilities teams will be primarily focused on collaborating with practice/case teams on the development and deployment of industry-specific analytical products and topic expertise to answer strategic questions of Bain’s private equity clients investing in the utilities and energy ecosystem.
A PL is responsible for building strong client relationships through high-quality delivery of projects, while providing day-to-day coaching and mentoring to team members. The PL collaborates with the team to define strategic direction, develop structured work plans, formulate problem-solving approaches, generate hypotheses, and effectively utilize the research toolkit. In addition to core project responsibilities, the PL actively contributes to office-wide initiatives such as recruiting, training, and business strategy. The CoE is witnessing strong demand from the Bain system, and as such, there are significant opportunities for a PL to grow within the BCN PEG CoE.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for a candidate who is a self-starter, result-oriented, with hands on Utilities consulting or research experience. Any exposure to data analytics as a part of delivering strategy engagements will be an added advantage. The role would require the candidate to hit the ground running in a fast growth environment and demands a willingness and ability to take initiative and learn independently.
