API Developer

We are seeking an experienced API Developer to join our team, specializing in IBM API Connect or Mulesoft API Management (APIM) platforms. The ideal candidate will work on critical API migration projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition and optimal API performance. This role requires a deep understanding of API management, migration strategies, and integration best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• API Migration:
  • Lead the migration of APIs between platforms such as IBM API Connect and Mulesoft APIM.
  • Design, implement, and validate migration strategies to ensure seamless API functionality.
  • Conduct gap analysis and adapt existing APIs to meet the target platform's requirements.
• Development and Integration:
  • Develop and deploy APIs using IBM API Connect or Mulesoft APIM, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
  • Integrate APIs with backend services and third-party systems.
  • Optimize API designs for performance and user experience.
• Testing and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform unit, integration, and performance testing of APIs during and after migration.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve API-related issues in real-time.
• Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including architects, business analysts, and developers, to gather requirements and define solutions.
  • Maintain clear documentation for API designs, configurations, and migration processes.
• Best Practices and Compliance:
  • Ensure all APIs adhere to organizational standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in API management and suggest improvements to the platform.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM API Connect or Mulesoft APIM.
  • Proven experience in API migration projects, including planning and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles and patterns.
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) and API documentation tools.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Node.js, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of API security standards (OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with API analytics and monitoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in IBM API Connect or Axway APIM.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their API gateway services.
